Created by Michelin-starred chef, George Kostis, the menu is varied and caters to vegetarians as well. If you can’t decide, don’t be afraid to push the envelope and opt for the four- or five-course degustation menu. Pair it with a local label and simply enjoy the moment.

In the vicinity of Tigaki, in the north of the island, Ampeli has everything you need in a delicious meal. Located within a vine-covered garden where the very same vegetables you will eat grow next door, Ampeli serves Greek fare, cooked with love, by owner Maria. The menu includes starters and mains, as well as grilled meats and some seafood dishes. Make sure to try the house wine – you’re in for a pleasant time.

In the picturesque hamlet of Zia, hidden between lush forests and peaceful nature, you will find Oromedon. Located in Kos’ second largest port, Mastichari, Kali Kardia is a fish taverna and ouzeria (an establishment that sells ouzo and related liquors as well as small portions of food). Nothing fancy here, Kali Kardia is simply an excellent place to eat, thanks to its friendly staff, good food and great prices. And sometimes, that’s all you need. Besides, ideal for people watching, Kali Kardia is the best spot to wait for your ferry to Kalymnos.
